Line marking and Car park Services

Car Park

Line Marking

A way of maximising space is to clearly mark parking bays to help efficient parking. Proground offer a full line marking service for car parks of all sizes. We can renew existing lines, create new work and remove redundant markings. We can also update your markings in line with current legislation.

Mechanical Sweeping

Regular sweeping not only removes unwanted grit, mud, litter, cigarette butts, leaves and debris, it can help prevent the establishment/growth of moss, algae and weeds. Mechanical sweeping can also help prevent physical damage to the road surface.

Gritting and snow clearance

Daily Weather Watch
Our fully comprehensive service is very cost effective, and includes the daily monitoring of long-range weather forecasts via our agreement with the Met Office, supply and spreading of rock salt and snow clearance to every size of customer.

A key aim of our gritting service is to give you peace of mind by knowing that come freezing rain, snow or ice, your property will be gritted before your customers and staff arrive.

A Winter Gritting Problem

What happens when the temperature plummets to sub-zero or the weather threatens snow? Are your car parks and service ways safe for your staff and customers? Have you arranged for a reliable winter gritting and snow clearing service provider to make sure your property is as safe as it can be?

The HSE 1992 Act (now including the HSE Preventing Slips and Trips at Work 2005 Act) states that in abnormal weather conditions, arrangementsshould be made to minimise risks from snow and ice on floorway and traffic routes. Meeting the requirements of this regulation can involve salt-gritting and snow clearing.

In a business environment of increasing litigation and regulation, can you afford not to adequately provide for the safety of your staff, customers or visitors?

Our quality service begins when you contact us for a quote. We then carry out a comprehensive site survey. From this survey we provide a price on a per-visit basis, with no up-front or retaining fee required. We can also provide a risk assessment and amethod statement upon retention of our services. Of course, our risk assessment would also include a COSHH report.

We operate a pro-active gritting service. This means we grit on forecast weather rather that actual weather but to re-assure you these forecast have a 94% accuracy rate. The reason we do it this way is that we like to grit sites at night when they are clear of vehicles and pedestrian (subject to them not being 24hr live sites) also it make them safe for later on in the morning when staff and/or customers arrive. It is a system that is tried and tested and works well. The gritting service is implemented when we get our weather forecast during the day show the weather over a 24hr period, if we get a red warning on an area meaning sub-zero temperatures with a risk of a white hoar frost (slippery white surface), black ice or snow we would then call you explain the hazardous conditions and you can then make the decision to grit or not. Some companies prefer to be on an automatic callout, we are happy with either callout system. All gritting then takes place over night or in the early morning, the reason we have this window is that black ice forms after it has rained followed by a temperature drop so we wait for the rain to clear first. The only time we would grit during the day is if snow was forecast then we like to put salt down before it snow to try and prevent it from settling.

There has been a major problem with salt supplies (salt is known as grit) since last winter; however we have sourced enough salt to carry us through this winter.

The type of salt we use is pink/brown rock salt as used on the highways. This type of salt dissolves into a brime solution which raises the freezing point preventing frost, ice and light snow from settling, or it melts these hazards if applied afterward. We will quote for using either Pink/brown rock salt or White Marine Salt.

Your company car park is often the first thing your visitors are likely to see. Keeping your car park looking its best can be very beneficial to your company image, and keeping the spaces free from dirt, litter and fallen leaves will help maximise the limited number of spaces you may have.
